The information we collect
Information you give us
When you complete an enquiry or booking form, we collect the details you provide - your name, email address and telephone number - so that we can respond and arrange your appointment. If you contact us by email, we hold the contents of that correspondence.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit the site we record basic technical and usage information to keep the site secure and to understand how it is used: the pages you view, the approximate time of your visit, the website you arrived from, your IP address and your browser type. Where you have consented to analytics cookies (see below), we also record a randomly generated visitor identifier so that repeat visits can be recognised.
We do not ask for, and this website is not the place to share, clinical details or photographs of your skin - those are collected securely as part of your consultation, which is covered by separate clinical privacy arrangements.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device. When you first visit, we ask whether you accept non-essential cookies. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies unless you choose "Accept cookies". If you choose "Essential only", only the strictly necessary cookies below are used.
Strictly necessary (always active)
- Session cookie - keeps the site working during your visit. Expires when you close your browser.
- Consent cookie - remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again. Stored for up to 12 months.
Analytics and advertising (only with your consent)
- Visitor cookie - a first-party cookie holding a random identifier that lets us measure how the site is used and how visitors return. Stored for up to 12 months.
- Google Ads - helps us measure the effectiveness of our advertising. This is provided by Google, which may set its own cookies. See Google's privacy policy.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser, after which you will be asked again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
How we use your information and our legal basis
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange your care - on the basis of taking steps at your request to enter into and provide our services.
- To keep the site secure and working - on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a safe, functioning website.
- To understand site usage and measure advertising - on the basis of your consent.
Where our services involve the provision of healthcare, any health information is processed for the purposes of providing medical care by, or under the responsibility of, a professional subject to a duty of confidentiality.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary:
- with the service providers who host our site and send our email, acting on our instructions;
- with Google, where you have consented to analytics and advertising cookies;
- where we are required to do so by law, or to protect the safety of a patient.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and correspondence details for as long as needed to respond to you and to meet our legal and professional obligations, after which they are securely deleted. Website usage records are kept only as long as needed for security and analysis. Clinical records are retained in line with professional guidance as part of your medical care.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@drmagnuslynch.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would welcome the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
